About Big Bridge

Big Bridge is a software and IT services firm focused on one thing: applications that work, how they’re conceived, designed, built, and operated. AI has made building software faster than ever. It hasn’t made knowing what to build any easier.

If you have an idea for an application, our first response is: “Okay. Let’s think through this.” As people who have spent decades designing, building, and running software that solves real operational problems, we bring more than an opinion to that conversation, we do the work.

We care most about what happens before and around the code: understanding the problem deeply, defining what the application actually needs to do, designing it to be usable and scalable from the start, and building a first version fast enough to learn from. The technology follows the thinking (not the other way around).

We also develop and operate our own applications, purpose-built tools available directly through the Big Bridge platform, bringing the same approach to problems we’ve identified and decided to solve ourselves.

A Career of Seeing Solutions and Building Them

Big Bridge was founded by people whose path into application development didn’t start with a computer science degree. It started with a question that kept coming up across a 40-year career spanning legal services, telecommunications, healthcare, real estate, hospitality, and higher education: “This process is broken. What if we built something to fix it?”

That instinct — to see an operational problem and move toward building a tool to solve it — has shown up consistently across every one of those domains. See the gap, sketch the solution, build something useful with whatever tools are at hand, and let it evolve. The first version is rarely the last, but it generates the feedback that shapes everything that follows. The goal has always been immediate value rather than a perfect system that arrives much later.

The results have included enterprise systems managing hundreds of millions in annual investment, platforms adopted across multiple institutions nationally, and a SaaS product that grew to over 1,000 independent users — each one starting with an honest look at what was actually broken.

Why This Matters More in the Age of AI

We use AI throughout our work, to design, write code, test, and move faster than was possible even a year ago. It’s a remarkable tool. But AI answers the question you give it; it doesn’t tell you whether it’s the right question.

The hard parts of building software were never really the typing. They’re deciding what problem is worth solving, who the application is actually for, what can safely be left out, and what happens when real people, real data, and real growth arrive. Those decisions still take judgment, and someone still has to stand behind them.

That’s where decades of seeing what works, and what quietly fails, earns its keep. AI makes an experienced builder dramatically faster. It doesn’t replace knowing where to point it.

What This Means for You

Working this way across that many industries leaves some patterns that tend to hold regardless of the problem:

Start from the problem, not the technology
Understand who will actually use the application before anything gets designed
Build something useful quickly, then refine based on what actually happens
Think about scalability early, so growth doesn’t mean starting over
Know when a prototype has done its job and a product is ready to grow

Whether you’re building something entirely new, rethinking a process that currently runs on spreadsheets and workarounds, or looking for a ready-made tool, the conversation starts the same way: what is the problem, really?

Who We Work With

Our background includes large enterprises and complex, high-stakes IT programs. The work that drives us, though, is with entrepreneurs, founders, and small organizations that have a real problem worth solving and the motivation to do something about it.

Many of these conversations start with someone who has a solid idea and a genuine need but hasn’t had access to the kind of experienced application development guidance that larger companies take for granted. They need someone to help think through the design, ask the hard questions early, and then actually build it — without the overhead of a large firm.

More and more, those conversations start with a prototype someone has already built, often with AI tools, that works well enough to prove the idea but not well enough to trust with real customers, real data, or real growth. Helping turn that first version into something solid, secure, and ready to scale is exactly the kind of work we do.

Startups and small businesses are where the entrepreneurial spirit lives — the drive to build something, solve a problem, make something work better than it did before. That’s the energy we understand best. High-caliber software and IT expertise shouldn’t be reserved for companies with large IT budgets. We built Big Bridge with that in mind.

If you have an idea for an application, or a prototype that’s ready to become a product, let’s talk about how to build it right.
